Current Projects

The A2 DDA is continually underway with a wide variety of projects and programs to address current needs and work toward improving downtown.

Projects in 2007/08 include the following:

  • Assisting the City with the sale and redevelopment of the First & Washington site as a public/private project that includes public parking and apartments
  • Providing historic façade loans and Partnerships Grants to exceptional downtown projects
  • Providing grants for alternative transportation programs such as commuter rail, the downtown Link circulator, and go!passes for downtown employees
  • Benchmarking downtown activity and vitality
  • Continuing its alley repair project
  • Adding a floor to the Fourth & William parking structure
  • Developing new strategies to maximize existing parking spaces and recommendations to City Council to add additional downtown public parking.

Current projects also include:

  • Creating a new wayfinding system for downtown
  • Improvements on Division/Fifth/Huron to make them “complete streets” that accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists
  • Sculpture plaza repairs in partnership with the City’s Parks Department
