Grants
The DDA provided support to a variety of projects that are aimed at strengthening the downtown. Recent grants have included:
- A 3 year grant for a total of $240,000 to the four downtown area associations for seasonal holiday/winter lighting in 2004, 2005, and 2006
- Yearly grants since 2004 totalling over $15,000 to the City for the Downtown Spring Cleanups, which provides funds for graffiti coverage, flower planting, and fire hydrant painting by school children.
- Grant for $12,600 to the Huron Valley Chapter of the American Institute of Architects for the 2006 fall public lecture series on urban design guidelines to support the City of Ann Arbor’s efforts to involve the community in efforts to create new urban design guidelines for downtown.
- Grants to Avalon and Dawn Farm for almost $200,000 for downtown affordable housing projects as well as a $15,000 grant for a county-wide housing needs assessment
- A $296,300 grant to the Farmer’s Market for repairs and improvements
- A $100,000 grant to the City for a solar electric demonstration project at the Farmer's Market.
- A 2 year grant for a total of $100,000 to the City for removal and replacement of trees stricken by the emerald ash borer
- A $630,000 grant to the City's Energy fund for the installation of energy effiicient LED lights in the DDA District
- A $50,000 grant to the Hand on Museum for the renovation and enhancement of facilities
